KITCHEN

The Basics to a clean kitchen – every day.

  •  Open windows
  • Dust light fixtures
  •  Dust  blinds
  • Clean windows and window sills.
  • Shine micro, fridge and stove doors
  • Wash walls, doors, trim and switch plates if needed.
  • Clean sink. Shine taps
  • Declutter work surfaces
  • Empty garbage and compost bin
  • Sweep and wash floors

The Extras:

  • Remove window screens
  • Clean and reseal grout if necessary
  • Tidy drawer with kitchen cloths

We ‘spring clean’ once a term.

  •  Dust light fixtures
  • Wash blinds and window coverings
  •  Clean windows and window sills
  • Wash walls, doors, trim and switch plates if needed. And door knobs too!
  • For each cabinet or drawer: remove items, wash drawer, place items back in neatly.
  • Wipe down cabinet exteriors and oil wood
  • Clean oven
  • Clean stove top – remove elements and drip bowls, wash and put back
  • Clean dishwasher, add salt
  • Clean behind dishwasher, pull forward…
  • Clean and organize fridge and freezer. Defrost freezer if necessary. Check food expiry dates.
  • Tidy pantry. Check food expiry dates
  • Clean under and behind fridge and stove
  • Clean extractor fan
  • Vacuum refrigerator coils
  • Clean small appliances, such as microwave,toaster, and stand mixer
  • Descale kettle and coffee pot with vinegar
  • Wipe down counters
  •  Shine sink and tap
  • Dust vent covers
  • Sweep and wash floors

The Extras:

  • Wash and sanitize cutting boards
  • Sharpen knives

ENTRY AND PASSAGE

Our public areas  are generally cleaned on alternate days:

  • Open windows and clean the window sills
  • Dust light fixtures
  • Dust blinds and window coverings
  • Windows clean?
  • Wash doors, door knobs, trim and switch plates as needed.
  • Dust floor skirting
  • Sweep and wash floors
  • Vacuum carpets/rugs
  • Sweep porch and wash threshold
  • brasso doorknob and bell

TOILETS

  • Open windows and clean the window sills
  •  Lift toilet seat to clean with disposable wipes
  • clean handbasin, shine taps, replace hand towels+soap etc
  • Dust light fixtures
  • Dust blinds and window coverings
  • Windows clean?
  • Wash doors, door knobs, trim and switch plates as needed.
  • Dust floor skirting
  • Sweep and wash floors
  •  Two full rolls of toilet paper

Extras once a month:

  •  Remove seat from toilet to clean around the

seat bolts.

BEDROOMS

The Basics: We’ve taught Eveline and Monica to open the wardrobe doors on starting on a room (this give the wardrobe a chance to air and it gives them the opportunity to check if any belongings were left behind)

Next step is to switch of all electric heaters, electric blankets and to check light switches for blown light bulbs. Remove the bedding and allow mattress to air while cleaning the room.

  • Open windows
  • Dust electronics and clean computer screen
  • Dust light fixtures and ceiling fans
  •  Dust furnishings and art
  •  Move bed, sweep under it.
  • Clean windows and window sills.
  • Wash walls, doors, trim and switch plates if needed. And door knobs too!
  • Dust floor registers and other vent covers
  • Sweep and wash floors or vacuum carpets
  • Check the coffee/tea area: clean and replace what is needed ;wipe out the fridge.

The Extras (this we do during the first week of every month)

  • Clean dressers and closets and apply wax or oil
  • Freshen mattress by sprinkling with baking soda, letting it sit briefly, and then vacuuming it up (add a few drops of lavender to the baking soda first!)
  • Wash and oil window screens
  • Wash blinds
  • Turn the mattresses
  •  Clean the fan blades
  •  Descale the kettle, move the microwaves and fridge and wash behind and underneath

 

DINING SPACE LIVING ROOM

The Basics:

  • Open windows ; clean windows and window sills.
  • Wash blinds and window coverings.
  • Dust light fixtures and vacuum lampshades
  • Dust shelves, furniture, and décor
  • Clean television screen
  • Dust electronics
  • Vacuum and spot clean upholstery.
  • Wash walls, doors, trim and switch plates if needed. And door knobs too!
  • Dust  vent covers
  • Sweep and wash floors or vacuum carpets

The Extras:

  • Tidy electronics wires. Tuck nicely out of sight.
  • Sort through music and DVD collections. Purge things that old and tired.
  • Sort books and magazines. Donate or recycle dated magazines.
